Dorothy M. Hartley

Mrs. Dorothy M. Hartley, of Kawkawlin, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at home surrounded by her children. Age 76 years. She was born March 4, 1938 in Bay City, the daughter of Ray and Eleanor (Neuenfeldt) Laney. On September 7, 1957 Dorothy married John Hartley, and he preceded her in death on December 18, 1988. Dorothy was a Jehovah's Witness, and enjoyed sewing and quilting and being with family. She was a retired GM worker from Saginaw Steering Gear. Dorothy is survived by her children, Kathy (Barry) Burns, Tim (Cathy) Hartley, Randy (Julie) Laney, Bill (Renee') Hartley, Judy Hartley, Carrie Finkbeiner, Sue Heiden, Bruce (Nancy) Hartley and Theresa (Mark) Waite. She is also survived by brothers and sisters, Raymond Laney, Lucille Tucker, Archie (Darlene) Laney, Janet (Bob) Arnold and Ruth Dufee; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews. Dorothy was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Patricia Laney; a grandson, David Burns; a sister, Shirley Tucker; a brother, LaVern Laney; sisters-in-law, Judy (LaVern) Laney and Donna (Raymond) Laney; and a brother-in-law, Johnny (Lucille) Tucker. A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall in Pinconning. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation in Dorothy's name.
