Dorothy M. Joos

Dorothy M. Joos (VanDusen) Essexville, Michigan Our loving mother, grandmother and sister passed away Sunday August 7, 2016 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Age 98 years. The daughter of the late Alphonse and Elsie (DeFord) VanDusen was born May 14, 1918 in Bay City and has resided here all of her life. She was a member St. Catherine of Siena Parish - St. Maria Goretti Church. Dorothy was an avid card player, she looked foreward to playing a good game of euchre and most of all she enjoyed the time she spent with her family. Left to cherish her memories are two daughters; Judith VanTol and her companion Robert MacLeod and Joy Salyer, four grandchildren; Marla and Terry Henika, Theron and Angela Zaucha, Lori and Ron Akin, and Kris Peterson, five special great grandchildren; Spencer Zaucha, Kendra Zaucha, Buddy Henika, Guy Henika and Louis Henika and five other great grandchildren residing in Missouri, four great great grandchildren and one sister; Faye Guoan. On November 24, 1938 she married Raymond Joos and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1993. She was also preceded in death by two brothers; Albert and Donald VanDusen. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish - St. Maria Goretti Church with the Rite of Committal following in Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin. At the request of the family there will be no visitation at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc., Mrs. Joos will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to Bay Medical Care Facility.
