Dorothy M. Kilborn Bay City, Michigan Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away Tuesday June 21, 2016 at Lake Orion Nursing Center at the age of 99 years. The daughter of the late John and Mary (Harrington) Smith was born June 16, 1917 in Petoskey, Michigan and was affiliated with the Ottawa Indian Tribe. She was "Rosie the Riveter" at Willow Run Bomber Plant during WW II. Dorothy was a member of the Red Hat Society, she enjoyed walks in the woods, picking mushrooms, and most of all she loved the time she spent raising her family. Left behind to cherish her memories are her sons, daughters, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law; Roger and Pat Smith, Jon and Helen Kilborn, Elaine Kilborn, Donna and Gary Van Pelt, Karl "Van" and Sue Kilborn, Joel Kilborn, Linda Kilborn, Lance Kilborn and his fiancé Sue Ralph, Kevin and Patricia Kilborn and Cheryl Kilborn and James Tarchinski, sixteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, one sister, Geraldine Kilmer; sister-in-law, Marian Smith and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents John and Mary she was preceded in death by her husband, Karl K. Kilborn; one infant daughter, Jane Kilborn; one son, Richard Kilborn; one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Kilborn; one grandson, Karl Kilborn; two sisters, Marjorie Colby and Jeanette Heinberg; one brother, Richard Smith and several other brothers and sisters. The Kilborn family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you the staff at Lake Orion Nursing Center for the kind and compassionate care they provided for our mother during the time they cared for her. Funeral services will take place Saturday June 25, 2016 at 12:00 O'clock Noon at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Charles Campbell with interment following in Elm Lawn Park Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home on Friday to receive visitors from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to the Humane Society of Bay County or The American Cancer Society.
