Martin, Dorothy May of Bay City, Michigan passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Brian's House surrounded by her loving husband and children at the age of 85 years. The daughter of the late Otis and Laura Mary (Bedell) Gary was born April 14, 1927 in Beaver Township, Bay County, Michigan. Dorothy was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. For many years she taught CCD at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church as well as Visitation Catholic Church. She was a very active mother helping out with the P.T.A. at school, was active with the Girl Scouts of America where she was an active leader for over eighteen years and was involved in the 4-H Program. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, baking and cooking. On April 14, 1945 she married her husband of sixty seven years Orwin J. Martin and he survives her passing along with eight children; Marijane and Joseph LeTourneau, Catherine Engel, Gloria and Carl Linzner, Chari Martin and her fiancée Ron Micsak, Diane and Ken Chartier, Lori and Theodore Binnall, O.J. Martin and his fiancée Bonnie Gray and Susan and Derek LeCronier, seventeen grandchildren, Tricia, Kara, Jennifer, Jamie, Jeremy, Carla, Nick, Jodi, Craig, Lance, Darcy, James, Christopher, Zachary, Nathan, Garrett, and Wade, twenty one great grandchildren, two sisters; Velma Steinka, and Irene MacKenzie and one brother and sister-in-law; Harry and Brenda Gary and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one son-in-law; Larry Engel and her brothers and sisters, Ruby Crawford, Floyd Gary, Alice Richardson, Ruth Steinka and Walter Gary. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. Meisner with the Rite of Committal following in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Vigil for the deceased will take place Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Martin will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of service.
