Dorothy M. Vella

Dorothy M. Vella Bay City, Michigan Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away Sunday evening December 11, 2016 at Bay Shores Nursing Center at the age of 91 years. The daughter of the late George and Amelia (Moorman) Arnholt, Dorothy was born on December 23, 1924 in Jonesville, IN. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, ballroom dancing to big band music and most of all she loved caring for her family. On December 16, 1951 she married John C. Vella whom she met on the dance floor in Columbus, IN and he is left to cherish her memories along with one daughter and son-in-law; Terri J. and Gary Wood, two sons and one daughter-in-law; Jeffrey J. Vella and Gregory J. and Beth Anne Vella, two grandchildren; Lisa (Jason) McInerney and Philip (Suzanne) Irwin, four great grandchildren; Ezra St. Marie, Leo St. Marie, Benmont Irwin and Corbin Irwin and her nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one son; John C. Vella Jr. A Memorial Service will take place Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel C. Meckes with private inurnment in Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
