Doug passed away peacefully at his home on November 15, 2017 at the age of 82 years. The son of the late Vern and Ruth (Kapanka) Graves was born July 21, 1935 in Midland, Michigan. He retired from Dow Chemical as a supervisor. Doug was a member of Spring Valley Golf Course and a former member of the Elks Lodge #88.He had a great love for golfing, enjoyed going fishing on his pontoon, playing video poker, cooking and most of all attending his grandkids sporting events. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife of 56 years the former Judith A. Cole whom he married August 12, 1961; his children, Scott Graves and his significant other, Amy, Lisa (David) LaCourt, Chris (Kelly) Graves; his grandchildren, Marisa (Matthew) Beam, Rick LaCourt, Mitchell Schatzer, Gavin LaCourt, Cole Graves, Kayla LaCourt and Cody Hoppe; his great grandchildren, Matthew and Taylin; his brothers and sisters, Roland (Gaye) Graves, Lorraine Phillips, Karen (Ed) Novak, Gerry Graves and Bruce Graves; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Joan Parsons; his brother, Mike Graves.
At Doug's request cremation has taken place. A Prayer Service will take place Monday evening, November 20, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Patrick Jankowiak with private inurnment in Juniatia Township Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home on Monday to receive family and friends from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Donor's Favorite Charity.
