Douglas J. "Doug" Luczak

Doug passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the family cottage in Gladwin, MI. Age 54 years. Doug was born January 26, 1963 in Bay City and has been a lifelong resident. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish-Holy Trinity Church. He graduated in 1981 from T.L. Handy High School and went on to graduate in 1986 from Wayne State University Department of Mortuary Science. Doug was a Licensed Funeral Director and co-owner of Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. along with his father, Gerald A. Luczak and his brother, David. He was an active member of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association and Past-President of District #7. Doug was also a member of the Bay City Moose Lodge #169, the Knights of Columbus Council #414, the Bay City Lions Club, the Secord Lake Eagles Club Aerie 4121 and the St. Helen Snowpackers Snowmobile Club. He also sponsored numerous community events and baseball teams. Doug enjoyed taking golf cart rides with his dog, Fluffy. There was nothing that made him happier than making his kids nervous by saying "The little bird was watching" their every move. He was the #1 fan in the stands for his children. Some of his greatest adventures were alongside the love of his life Cindy. Doug was an avid boater and snowmobiler. His family and friends brought him joy and he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife the former, Cynthia A. Greniuk, whom he married November 8, 1986; one son, Matthew J. Luczak; one daughter, Megan A. Luczak; his mother, Thelma J. Luczak and her companion, James Baldwin; his mother-in-law, Judith Greniuk; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Nicole Luczak; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kristal and John Wioncek, Cheryl and Alfredo Fuentes, Albert Greniuk Jr. and Carol Mcilwain and Holly Joshi; his nephews and nieces, Brandon and Tyler Luczak, Katrina Wioncek, Victor Fuentes, Elena Wioncek, Alfredo Fuentes, Christina Fuentes and Tyler Mcilwain; and a special family member, Molly Lopez. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald A. Luczak; his father-in-law, Albert Greniuk Sr.; his grandparents, Alex and Angeline Luczak and John and Betty Campbell. Doug touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, February 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish-Holy Trinity Church, 1000 S. Wenona St., Bay City, Michigan 48706. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. Kelm with the Rite of Committal following in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday to receive family and friends from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. Doug will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to Survivors of Suicide, St. Helen Snowpackers, the Humane Society of Bay County or the Wishes of the Family for a future memorial in Doug's memory.
