Douglas W. McCoy

McCoy, Douglas W. Bay City, Michigan Our loving father, spouse and grandfather passed away January 5, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 66 years. The son of the late William and Lucille (Bishoff) McCoy was born August 26, 1947 in Omer, Michigan. Mr. McCoy enjoyed woodworking and mechanics. He participated in the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life and Making Strides. He was an avid volunteer at Copoco Community Credit Union and was an active tribal member of the Chippewa Indian Tribe. Douglas retired from Consumers Energy in 2002 after 33 years as a mechanic and a gas linesman and served in the United States Army. Mr. McCoy is survived by his partner, Linda Doan; two children, Rebecca (Nate) Newell and William McCoy and Kimberle Wright; one stepson, Benjamin Doan; one brother, Brady (Beverly) McCoy; one sister, Janine Marchbanks; five grandchildren, Madelyn, Alana, Riley, Carson and Madison; nieces and nephews, Kelley, Jodi, Chris and Tyler. At the request of Mr. McCoy cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Doug Lewis under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for the American Cancer Society or the wishes of the family will be available at the funeral home.
