Dustin Kurt Vogel, born in Bay City, MI on October 7, 1990 to Kurt and Kim (Cooley) Vogel, also of Bay City, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 31st as a result of an automobile accident. Dustin was a Western High School graduate, class of 2008. Dustin enjoyed years of hockey, earning a spot on the Wolves hockey team throughout his high school years. After high school, Dustin headed off to Ferris State to pursue a construction degree before stepping into the building trade working locally with family. Dustin then relocated to the west side of the state to pave his own path working on numerous large estates, using his talents in the building trade.
Beyond hockey and building, Dustin’s life was also filled with country music, especially enjoying concerts with a special Aunt Kim and dear, dear Grandma “Nane” Vogel as well as his own immediate and extended family members. Dustin and his concert gang were yearly regulars at the KCQ Country Music Fest on Saginaw’s Ojibway Island since Dustin was a child. Family was his center and that was one event they never missed, beyond many other concerts in and out of the state. As a child, Dustin enjoyed many trips to Indian River to visit Grandma and Grandpa Cooley, making for many special memories.
Dustin is survived by his parents, Kurt and Kim, a brother, Trenton and a brother in law, Jordan, and his grandfather Duaine (Gerilyn) Vogel as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from the Vogel and Cooley families. Dustin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dianne Vogel and Russ and Barbara Cooley, and an uncle, Larry Cooley. Cremation has taken place and a memorial celebration of Dustin’s life will be held in the summer of 2023. The family will extend an open invitation to all family and friends that would like to honor Dustin Kurt Vogel, once a date and details are finalized.
The Vogel family would like to sincerely thank everyone that has so kindly reached out to offer love and support. Your kindness has been greatly appreciated at this very difficult time.
