Earl L. Bublitz Earl F. Bublitz of Bay City, Michigan went to his heavenly home on his birthday Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Bay Shores Nursing Center at the age of 97 years. The son of the late Henry and Meta (Ahrens) Bublitz was born September 30, 1917 in Munger and has resided in Bay County all of his life. Earl was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust, retired from the State of Michigan Department of Transportation as a pavement marker after thirty years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW II. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a Detroit Tiger fan. Left behind to cherish his memories are three children; Holly (Ross) Chambers, Terry Bublitz and Lori (Pat) Davis all of Bay City, five grandchildren; Lindsay Chambers, Allison (John) Dreznes, Hailey Hunn, Kiefer Hunn and Sydney Davis, one great granddaughter; Eleanor Marie Dreznes, his brothers, sisters, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law; Eleanor Dinsmore, Margaret Obertien, Jack Sylvester, Lester (Jean) Bublitz, Ralph (Marcy) Bublitz and Dian Behmlander and many nieces and nephews. On June 7, 1947 he married the former Bernice Schlicker and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2007. Earl was also preceded in death by his brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law; Arlene and William Brodrick, Alfred Dinsmore, John Obertien, Clara Sylvester, Lawrence Bublitz, Harry Bublitz, William Bublitz, Leon Schlicker and Roy Schlicker. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Sheffield Bay and Bay Shores Nursing Home for their compassion and care during the time they cared for him. Funeral Services will take place Friday, October 3, 2014 at 12:00 O'clock Noon at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Rev. Paul D. Theiss with the Committal Service and Military Honors at 2:45 p.m. in the Chapel at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Bublitz will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 11:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund will be available at the funeral home.
