Edna I. Neering 'Grandma Ginger' Bay City, Michigan Mrs. Edna I. Neering, of Bay City, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 5, 2014 at the Bay Medical Care Facility, age 94. The daughter of the late Charles & Delia (Seafert) Katterman, she was born April 6, 1919 in Tawas City. Edna was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. She worked at Salzburg Cleaners for 40 years. Edna was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making quilts. Edna is survived by her two children, Russell G. (Caroline) Long of Wright City, MO and Ardith (Ronald) Ruether of Bay City; her grandchildren, Connie (Dan), Steve (Jennifer), Amie (Tim), Phil (Margie), Ron Jr. (Lynn), Shawn (Julie), and Jared (Alicia); her great-grandchildren, Christie (Greg), Matt, Jacob, Tiffany (Chris), Nick, Hannah, David, Sarah, Maggie, Hannah, Brody, and Lauren; her great-great-grandchildren, Austin, Collin, Olivia, and Ethan; a brother, Donald (Dorothy) Harsch; a sister, Rita Wight; a sister-in-law, Ila Katterman; and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Edna was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Neering in 1984; a brother, Louis; and two sisters, Eleanor and Thelma. The Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Rev. Paul D. Theiss with the Committal Service following in the St. Paul Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Saturday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Neering will lie instate at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust.
