Edward Socia

SOCIA, Edward "Sonny" of Bay City, Michigan. Mr. Socia passed away Saturday, January 09, 2010 at his residence with his family by his side. Age 78 years. The son of the late Pete and Alberta (Weatherington) Socia was born July 29, 1931 in Bay City, Michigan. Sonny was a former county commissioner, treasurer and trustee of Local 362, member of Eagles Club F.O.E. Aerie #1010, Muskrat Club and on the board of mental health. Sonny was retired from G.M. Powertrain. Sonny is survived by his wife and caregiver the former Norma E. Reed whom he married in 1951; seven children, Linda (Butch) King, Donna (Dale) Culler, Jack Socia of Colorado, Terry (Amy) Socia, Becky (Tim) Woodbury, Mike (Lisa) Socia and Rick (Sherry) Socia of Pinconning; seventeen grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one brother, James Socia Sr.; one sister, Blanche Rogers of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Sonny was also preceded in death by one son, Peter M. Socia and one great grandson, Blake Culler. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and especially our special angels Marilyn, Mellissa and Rev. Joseph Atchinson. Funeral and Committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Atchinson with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services.
