Edwin John "Jack" Carstens

Jack passed away Thursday, April 192018 at Lakeland Regional Health in Lakeland, Florida. Age 85 years. The son of the late William J. and Anna M. (Wicke) Carstens II. was born June 15, 1932 in Rhodes, Michigan. Jack graduated from Pinconning High School in 1951. He retired as a Tool & Die Maker from General Motors in Saginaw. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Lenore Jean "Pinkie" Carstens; his children, Cheryl Carstens and Christopher (Samantha) Carstens, Jeffrey (Kimberly) McCormick and Troy McCormick; his grandchildren, Rick (Nikki) Baird, Bill Carstens; Nicholas Carstens, Kyle Carstens, Amber Carstens, Tori (Bill) Wilkonson; Brandon Beck, Branden (Alisa) McCormick, Ashley (Neil) Buzek; several great grandchildren; his brothers, Calvin (Dorothy) Carstens, Robert Carstens and Aldor Carstens; his twin sister, M. June Boluch; his brothers -in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernice Carstens, Paul LaPorte, Norman and Roberta LaPorte, Darlene Burr and Jonathan LaPorte. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sons, Steven Carstens in 1992 and Tyler McCormick in 2008; his former wife, Marsha Witzke; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest and Valetha LaPorte, his brother, William Carstens III; his sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Joe Zuchnik, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carolyn Carstens, Beverly Carstens, Ted Boluch, Ann Carstens, Delores LaPorte and Edmund Burr.
Funeral and Committal Services will take place Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 12:00 o'clock Noon at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Aaron Knapp followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council and the U.S. Navy. Private interment will take place in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Pinconning, MI. The family will be present at the funeral home on Friday to receive family at friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Expression of sympathy may be made to the Elf Khurafeh Shriners.
