Shimabukuro, Edwin N. Bay City, Michigan Mr. Shimabukuro passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Age 78 years. The son of the late Takeichi and Dorothy (Sadoyama) Shimabukuro was born in 1938 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Shimabukuro formerly an English teacher at Trenton High School in Michigan, was employed at B.C.E.A., was a member of the Michigan Education Association and the Democratic Party. He was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, wildlife and U of M Football. Mr. Shimabukuro is survived by his wife, Hope; five children, Lisa (Ray Morales) Shimabukuro, Eric (Pam Moy) Shimabukuro, Marc (Kathleen) Shimabukuro, Bert (Mayumi) Shimabukuro and Paul (Aparna) Shimabukuro; seven grandchildren, Aaron (Augusta Butlin) Kearly, Patrick (Jessica) Kearly, Gina Kearly, Blake Shimabukuro, Monica Shimabukuro, Luke Shimabukuro and Carolyn Shimabukuro; two great grandchildren, River Kearly and Beatrice Kearly . In addition to his parents Mr. Shimabukuro was also preceded in death by one daughter, Nadine Shimabukuro and one sister, Frances Shimabukuro. At the request of Mr. Shimabukuro cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Trinity Episcopal Church. Officiating will be The Rev. Susan C. Rich and Preaching will be The Rev. Dr. Valerie Fargo with inurnment following in the church columbarium. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
