Elaine L. Hughes

With heavy, yet joy-filled hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom, Elaine, on Saturday evening. Well done, good and faithful servant! If you knew Elaine, you knew the depth of her faith, her love of family and her commitment to helping as many people in as many ways as she was able. Elaine was a secretary for 25 years for Bay City Public Schools, and a graduate of Bay City Central High School, class of 1943. She was most proud of having attended Wheaton College. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband George (Lad) Hughes, Jr. and by her brother Clyde Kerkau. She is survived by her children: Michele Hughes (Mort Hyslop) of Rapid City, Blair (Mary) Hughes of Suttons Bay, and Laurie (Kevin) Konarska of Ada. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A celebration of Elaine's life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11 am at Messiah Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior to service. Family will receive friends at Gephart Funeral Home on Friday, April 17, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
