Eldor O. "Butch" Appold

Butch passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Brian's House. Age 74 years. He was born June 13, 1937 in Bay City and resided here his whole life. Butch was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust and held various offices in the church. He was also a member of L.F.A. Chapter 23, L.F.A. Association. Butch was a 1955 graduate of Handy High. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts and a Master of Arts Degree in Education from Central Michigan University. He taught for two years at Arthur Eddy in Saginaw, and then in Bay City Public Schools at Central and Western and retired in 1992. He also taught evening Machine Shop classes at Delta College and was an Apprentice Coordinator for Bay City Public Schools. He served in the Michigan National Guard from 1955 to 1963. Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and working in the woods. Butch was a member of the Michigan Forest Association. He is survived by his wife the former Jean M. Bellhorn whom he married December 22, 1962. Also surviving are his children and their spouses; Dawn and Rev. Erwin Hutter of Taylor, MI and Keith and Susan Appold of Hartland, MI, five grandchildren; Christian, Katie, Andy, Rachel and Patrick, his brothers and sister; Gerald (Doris) Appold, Herbert (Karen) Appold, Eunice (George) Pierce and Lester (Gail) Appold, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Christian and Helen (Beiser) Appold. Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Rev. Paul D. Theiss with the committal following in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. on Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 and on Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mr. Appold will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
