Mrs. Eleonore Luise Currey, of Bay City, passed away suddenly late Saturday night, December 7, 2013 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, age 88. The daughter of the late Herman & Marie (Roth) Feyerabend, she was born June 8, 1925 in Ionia, MI. On May 6, 1944, Eleonore married Arnold F. Currey in San Antonio, Texas, where Arnold was stationed during WWII. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its Ladies Guild. Eleonore is survived by her husband of 69 years, Arnold F. Currey; a son, Col. Richard F. (Susan) Currey (Ret.) of Colorado Springs, CO; a daughter, Judy A. (Gordon) VanLoon of Chattanooga, TN; five grandchildren, Sean (Denise) Currey, Roger (Laura) VanLoon, Robin (Smail Bouferguene) Currey, Frank (Lela) VanLoon and Jennifer (Jeff) Morse; nine great-grandchildren, Austin, Zachary, Benton, Eric, Kahina, Xavier, Logan, Maxwell and Daniel; two sisters, Irmgard Black and Rosemarie Connell; several nieces & nephews; and her special friends and neighbors, Dick & Jan VanNostrand. Besides her parents, Eleonore was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jared Currey; a brother, Herman Robert Feyerabend; and three sisters, Doris Kirvan, Margaret Sisco and Arlene Weaver. The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt. Private interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
