Elizabeth Ann Girou (Merchant)

Girou, Elizabeth Ann (Merchant) Essexville, Michigan Mrs. Girou passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 69 years. The daughter of the late Louis and Jean (Lowe) Merchant was born August 5, 1947 in Bay City. Mrs. Girou was a member of Riverwalk Baptist Church, enjoyed reading and especially animals and her pets. Mrs. Girou is survived by her husband, Robert Paul Girou whom she married October 25, 1985; one daughter, Jamie (Dietlein) Slater; three step children, Carol, Michael Girou and Grace (Kevin) Norton; three grandchildren, Janine Dietlein, Jennifer Williams and Travis Johnson; two brothers and one sister, Daniel (Maxine) Merchant, Stephen Merchant and Julie (Don) Schwartz. In addition to her parents Mrs. Girou was also preceded in death by one son, David Dietlein; two brothers, James and Jeffrey Merchant and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Michael and Stella Girou. Funeral and Committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Riverwalk Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Steve Roe with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Girou will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial cards for the wishes of the family will be available at the funeral home.
