Horen, Elizabeth I. "Issie" Kawkawlin, Michigan Mrs. Horen passed away early Monday morning May 13, 2013 at Huron Woods Nursing Center. Age 84 years. The daughter of the late Harry and Antoinette (Bellant) Toms was born June 15, 1928 in Flint, Michigan, then moved to Tawas City and has resided in Kawkawlin since 1951. Issie was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, the Sault Ste Marie Chippewa Indian Tribe. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting She is survived by her husband Charles J. Horen Sr. whom she married on August, 16, 1947, four children and their spouses; Shirley and Les Bauer of Bay City, Charles Jr. and Pam Horen of Kawkawlin, Dorothy Soto of Tuscon, AZ and Sandra Horen of Madagascar, grandchildren, Tammy and Aaron Wrona, Jeff and Lacy Bauer, Amy and Trinidad Castro, Charlie Horen III, Kristy Johnroe and Shane and Tracy Johnroe, seven great grandchildren; Joshawa Horen, Gabbrellia Castro, Jeremy Pullen, Tony, Savannah, Dylan, Evelyn Johnroe and Brayden Birdsall, three sisters; Pansy, Carol and Frances, four brothers; Frank, Harry, Douglas and Leo, and her sisters-in-law; Bobbie and Dorothy and spouses. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Huron Woods Nursing Center for the kind and compassionate care they extended to Mrs. Horen during the time they cared for her. Funeral Services will take place Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alban's Episcopal Church. Officiating will be The Rev. Sharon L. Voelker with interment following in Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Kawkawlin, Michigan. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Wednesday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m.. Mrs. Horen will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for St. Alban's Episcopal Church will be available.
