Elizabeth Arlene Huiskens, of Auburn, passed away Friday April 22, 2011 at St. Mary's of Michigan Medical Center in Saginaw, age 87. She was born August 28, 1923 in Bay City. Elizabeth was a member of the St. Anthony/St. Joseph Parish Community in Auburn and also attended Faith Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, reading and working in her yard. On December 13, 1941 Elizabeth married James F. Huiskens in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on May 15, 1996. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Joan (James) Sharpe of Midland, Connie (Bert) Huiskens Wojda of Midland, Patricia Dietlein of Midland, James (Mary Lyn) Huiskens of California and Gerald Huiskens of California; 13 grandchildren, Tammy, Heather, Jill, Jackie, Julie, Mark, Holly, Amber, Sarah, Melissa, Nicole, Jenna and Aubry Rose; 23 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Florence Huiskens and Eugene (Shirley) Huiskens; and several nieces & nephews. Elizabeth was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jodi Sharpe; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Huiskens; and also her brothers and sisters. The Funeral Liturgy & Rite of Committal will take place at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1492 W. Midland Rd., Auburn. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Thomas E. Sutton. Private interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00pm and Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00 & 7:00 to 9:00pm. The Vigil for the Deceased will be on Tuesday at 8:00pm. Mrs. Huiskens will lie instate at the church on Wednesday from 9:00am until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Disabled American Veterans.
