Arnold, Elmer G. Bay City, Michigan Mr. Arnold passed away Friday afternoon, November 21, 2014 at the Carriage House Nursing Home with his family by his side. Age 94 years. The son of the late Frederick and Mary (Boehm) Arnold was born July 3, 1920 in Bay City, Michigan. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the men's choir. Mr. Arnold was the founder of Arnold Sales Inc. and he was retired. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and charter president of the Noon Optimist Club and the Toast Masters Club. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling, playing cards, fishing and was the world's biggest Detroit Tigers fan. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife the former Norine W. Witzke whom he married May 14, 1949, two children and their spouses, Susan and Paul Birch, Sr., Michael and Rhonda Arnold both of Bay City, two grandchildren, Kyle (Kristi) Arnold and Katie (Derrick) Starke, seven step grandchildren, one great granddaughter, Adelyn Arnold, one brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Ann Arnold of Wisconsin, many nieces and nephews and one special friend, Starlow Smith. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Edward Arnold. Funeral and Committal Services will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2014. Mr. Arnold will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 12:30 p.m. and until the time of services.
