Mrs. Elvira A. Hoerauf, of Bay City, passed away with her family by her side on Thursday evening, August 13, 2015 at The Carriage House of Bay City, age 84. She was born on July 16, 1931 in Bay City. Elvira has been an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust throughout her life. She enjoyed crafting and gardening and most of all spending time with her family.
On January 13, 1951 in St. Paul Church, Elvira was united in marriage to Erwin Hoerauf and he survives her passing along with four children, Doug (Jaynie) Hoerauf, Pam (John) Whalen, Jean (Tim) Czowski and Jon (Lynn) Hoerauf; her grandchildren, Jodi Kinney, Julie Randall, Kelly Whalen, Jeremy Hoerauf, Mike Zaplitny, Kathy Zaplitny, Dave Whalen, Kayla Zaplitny and Kevin Whalen; her great-grandchildren, Tiffany Kimpel, Ashley Randall, Zach Kimpel and Chase Randall; her siblings and their spouses, Janet (Gerald) Hoerauf, Howard Knoerr, Eugene (Bonnie) Rugenstein, Larry (Marge) Knoerr and Harvey (Darlene) Rugenstein; and several nieces and nephews. Elvira was preceded in death by her parents, Mathilda (Vogel) Rugenstein and Martin Knoerr; her step-father, Harold Rugenstein; a daughter, Kathy Anne Hoerauf; and a sister-in-law, Marie Knoerr.
The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Rev. Paul D. Theiss with a graveside committal service following in St. Paul Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Hoerauf will lie instate at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul General Fund.
