Ernest H. Vaillancourt
Ernest passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 81 years. Ernest was born in Auburn on September 10, 1938 to the late Ernest N. and Leanore (Peltier) Vaillancourt. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish - Holy Trinity Church, Auburn Knights of Columbus 3909, Local 688 and the American Legion. On July 16, 1960 he married the former Karen Zimmerman in Bay City and they were married for 59 years until her passing on September 27, 2019. Ernest proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He worked and retired as an iron inspector from Grey Iron in Saginaw after 35 years. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Ernest is survived by his children, Kimberly Vaillancourt, Donna Vaillancourt, Lynn (Bob) Hildreth, Bob Vaillancourt, James (Dawn) Vaillancourt and Michael Vaillancourt; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; twin sister, Leona Lambert and sister, Alice Jacobs; sisters-in-law, Bea Vaillancourt and Charlene Zimmerman; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Rob Becker. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Brown; twin granddaughters, Ashley and Sara Hood; brother, Gerard Vaillancourt; sisters, Rosemary Ellison and Agnes Wejrowski; brother-in-law, Ronald Zimmerman and special friend, Bonnie Benemann.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Corpus Christi Parish-Holy Trinity Church. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. Kelm with Rite of Committal in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Vaillancourt will be taken to the church to lie in state on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
