Ott, Ervin F. Bay City, Michigan Mr. Ott went to be with his Lord and Savior early Sunday morning September 9, 2012 with his family at his side at the Carriage House of Bay City at the age of 91 years. The son of the late Louis and Elsie (Schindler) Ott was born October 9, 1920 in Kawkawlin, Michigan and has resided in Bay County all of his life. He was an active member of St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church, Erv was the co owner of White Birch Golf Course, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and was an avid golfer. He served with the United States Air Force as a Sgt. during WWII. On April 17, 1948 he married his wife of 64 years the former Betty Jane Hartley and she survives his passing along with one daughter and son-in-law; Janet and Jim Lorenz of Watertown, WI, one son; Michael Ott of Bay City, two granddaughters and their spouses; Michelle and Shawn Abts and Jennifer and Rev. Jonathan Schroeder, five great grandsons, one great granddaughter and his nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter; Marsha Ott and one brother and sister-in-law; William and Ruth Ott. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Carriage House Nursing Home for the kind and compassionate care they extended to Mr. Ott during his time they cared for him. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church 2460 Fraser Road Kawkawlin, MI 48631. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Seafert with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Ott will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church General Fund or to the donor's favorite charity.
