Mr. Rinas passed away Thursday March 13, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 85 years. The son of the late Frederick and Adelia (Landosky) (Nitz) Rinas was born November 26, 1928 in Midland, Michigan. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and retired as an inspector from General Motors Co. - Bay City Plant after many years of service. Mr. Rinas had a great love for automobiles and owned several sports cars and luxury cars throughout his life. He enjoyed the time he spent relaxing at his cottage at Higgins Lake and enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law; Lucille Koehler of Beaverton and Janet and Clifford Vennix of Auburn, one step son; Gary and Cheryl Lambert of Bay City, two step grandchildren; Melissa Provo of Pinconning and Kitrina and Wayne Provo of Slidell, LA, three step great grandchildren; Justin, Nathan and Madalyn Provo, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Mike and Cindy Lambert, Shelby Fowler, Sandra Johnson and friend; Paul Thompson and Kay Hartwig, five special nieces and nephews; Dallas and Judy Eichman, Brenda Koehler and friend Andy, Ric and Lynda Fletcher, Ron and Ann Balzer and Jeff and Barb Vennix and his great nieces and nephews. On July 5, 1969 he married the former Maxine E. Lambert and she preceded him in death on July 13, 2002. He was also preceded in death by one brother; Kenneth Rinas.
Funeral Services will take place Saturday March 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church 247 N. Lincoln St. Bay City, MI 48708. Officiating will be Rev. LeRoy R. Westphal with Entombment following at Oakwood Mausoleum in Saginaw, MI. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. to receive visitors on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Rinas will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of service.
