Esther M. Neumeyer

Mrs. Esther M. Neumeyer, of Bay City, passed away early Friday morning, December 11, 2015 at Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw, age 94. The daughter of the late Albert and Meta (Lutz) Hammerbacher, she was born in Kochville Twp. on October 21, 1921. Esther was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust and was active with the LWML Friendship Circle. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, bowling and was always very up to date on sports, especially the Tigers and Red Wings. Esther was first and foremost a devoted mother and grandmother, and loved spending time with her brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews.
On January 27, 1946, in St. John Lutheran Church of Amelith, Esther married Alvin J. Neumeyer and he preceded her in death on August 4, 2009. Esther is survived by her seven children and their spouses, Dennis (Marsha) Neumeyer, Thomas (Judy) Neumeyer, Ann (Tim) Schroeder, John (Nan) Neumeyer, Brenda (Mark) Crane, Marte (Leigh) Neumeyer and Beth (Scott) Norfleet; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Esther was also preceded in death by two brothers, Rudolph Hammerbacher and Albert Hammerbacher, Jr.; and three sisters, Marie Bothe, Florence Mammel and Mildred Wuepper Janz.
The Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Rev. Paul D. Theiss with graveside interment following at St. Paul Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Neumeyer will lie instate at the church on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
