Richter, Evelyn K. of Bay City, Michigan went to her heavenly home early Tuesday morning February 21, 2012 . Age 102 years , Mrs. Richter lived life to the fullest for as long as she was able, never taking even one moment for granted. There was no greater gift in her life than her family, and there was nothing that brought her more joy than being surrounded by her loved ones. The daughter of the late Bernard K. and Eliza (Baron) Wanless was born August 6, 1909 in Bay City and has resided here all of her life. She was the eldest member of Zion Lutheran Church, a member of T.O.P.S. # 1145 for over twenty five years and stopped attending at the age of 91 years and served as the "Sunshine Lady" sending special cards to many of the members. Evelyn graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1928, for many years she operated the concession stands at Bay City State Park where her late husband William F. Richter was the developer and manager of the park. She enjoyed reading the Bay City Times, Listening to the Mrs. with Art Lewis and Sue Smith and enjoyed cooking. Evelyn especially cherished her grandchildren with all of her heart, caring for them in times of need and celebrating with them in times of joy. Left to cherish her memories are one daughter and son-in-law; Cheryl L. and Albert "Al" L. Fox, one daughter-in-law; Colleen Richter one step daughter; Joan V. Behrmann all of Bay City, her loving grandchildren; Tammy (Scott) Ellis, Brenda (Duane) Ebach, Bryan Richter, Barbara ( John ) Loman, Thomas (Jill) Richter, Gene Ann LaMoria, Diane LaMoria, Julie LaMoria, Timothy LaMoria, Judy (Keith) Harris, Tom (Sharon) Russell and Barbara (Percy) Dubay, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, one niece, one nephew and her special friend and caregiver; Norine Fritz. On December 21, 1936 she was united in Holy Matrimony to William F. Richter and they shared twenty seven years of marriage together, he preceded her in death on October 13, 1964. She was also preceded in death by; one son; William N. Richter, two grandsons; Gerald and Terry Russell, one brother; Roy Wanless, her special aunt and uncle; Frank and Adeline Borrow, one step daughter and two step sons-in-law; Betty J. and Leon LeTourneau and Jerry Behrmann. A Service to Celebrate her life will take place Friday, February 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt and Rev. John W. Wernecke with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family and share memories on Thursday at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Richter will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. It is Mrs. Richter's desire for those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to Zion Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.
