Florence Arlene Sowden

Sowden, Florence Arlene of Bay City, Michigan passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 at The Carriage House of Bay City. Age 88 years. She was born May 23, 1923 in Bay City, Michigan and has resided here all of her life. Florence was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, she retired from Jennison Hardware after thirty three years of service and was had been employed at Bergers Restaurant and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Thomas J. and Liz Sowden of Pinconning and one daughter; Susan Sowden of, two grandchildren; Jonathan and Jodi Sowden of Hamilton, Michigan and Joshua and Sheri Sowden of Racine, WI, seven great grandchildren; Tyler, Ethan, Mason, Sydni and Sophia Sowden and Kaleb and Kolton Moore , one brother-in-law; Walter Neumeyer of Bay City and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Sowden, her parents; Leonard and Martha (Kramer) Hachtel and eight sisters; Anna Lutz, Selma Kobetic, Mabel Post, Edna Hachtel, Esther Stein, Martha Betcher, Bernice Neumeyer and Arlene Hachtel. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Paul E. Schaewe with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Sowden will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church will be available.
