Meyer, Floyd A. Sr. "Big Cat" Bay City, Michigan Mr. Meyer passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Mid-Michigan Regional Medical Center with his loving family at his side. Age 73 years. The son of the late George and Edna (Bedell) Meyer was born September 19, 1940 on the family farm in Monitor Township. Floyd was a member of Grace Christian Church and was a lifelong farmer in Bay County. He retired as the owner of Meyer Sesquicentennial Farm and continued on with his sons as the "Consultant" for the family farm. He also retired from the Monitor Township Fire Department after proudly serving his community for over thirty years. Floyd served as a Past President and board member of the Kawkawlin Metropolitan Water District and as president of the Future Farmers of America. Mr. Meyer graduate of T. L. Handy High School class of 1958 whit high honors, was a avid Detroit Tigers fan and most of all he enjoyed spending time farming and with his family. On June 24, 1961 he married his wife of 52 years the former Nancy Lang and she survives his passing along with one daughter and son-in-law; Janet and Tom Wood, three sons and two daughters-in-law; Floyd II and Bridget Meyer, Craig Meyer and Eric and Jodi Meyer, nine grandchildren; Kendell and Heather Meyer, Kayla Meyer, Kevin Meyer, Kirk Meyer, Megan Wood, Justin Wood, Rachel Wood, Nathan Meyer and Jason Meyer, one great grandson; Brody Wood, one sister-in-law; Agnes Rushford, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother; Frederick Meyer and one brother-in-law; Tom Rushford. At the request of Mr. Meyer his visitation and funeral service will take place in his new shed on the family farm. Funeral services will take place Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at The Meyer Sesquicentennial Farm 2558 E. Wheeler Road Bay City, Michigan. Officiating will be Pastor Ron Benson. Following the service at the farm we will proceed with Floyd's last crop tour on his way to the interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will be present at the farm on Friday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society.
