Floyd P. Matuszewski, of Bay City, age 92, peacefully passed away Saturday February 26, 2011 at Close To Home Assisted Living with family at his side. He was born in Bay City to the late Matthew & Mary Ann (Cabat) Matuszewski on February 11, 1919. Floyd retired from General Motors. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Floyd had a passion for work, fishing and being with his family and friends. He taught us right from wrong and to work very hard to succeed in life and to help others. Floyd is survived by his wife, the former Garnett J. Cnudde, whom he married on September 29, 1945; two children, Janice M. Miller of Charlevoix and Daniel J. (Laraine) Matthews; three grandchildren, Chad (Vivian) Milller, Misty Miller and David Matthews; two step-grandchildren, Jeff Brainard and Kerry (John) Verdi; three step-great-grandchildren, Joey Brainard, Sydney and Cameron Verdi; a brother, Edward Matuszewski; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Brechtelsbauer and Josephine Cnudde; and many nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Floyd was also preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers. The family would like to thank all of the caretakers at Close To Home and McLaren Hospice for their special care, prayers and comfort during Floyds stay. The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 1:30pm on Tuesday March 1, 2011 at St. James Catholic Church, 710 Columbus Ave. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. DeLand. Private entombment will be in St. Patrick Mausoleum. Mr. Matuszewski will lie instate at the church on Tuesday from 12:30pm until time of Mass.
