SMITH, Floyd Wesley of Kawkawlin, Michigan. Floyd Wesley Smith passed away Friday, February 12, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family. Age 75 years. He was born September 19, 1934 in the Pickford, Michigan area to the late George and Nellie (Nolan) Smith. Floyd worked several jobs in the upper peninsula in his younger years. He married the former Grace Anderson on June 23, 1956 and moved to Kawkawlin in 1967 and was employed at General Motors and retired in 1996 after twenty years of service and was employed at Acme Septic Tank for many years. He served with the United States Army for two years and spent thirteen months in Germany. Floyd was so kind and helped everyone that needed help. He was a great mechanic that could fix almost anything. He is survived by his loving wife Grace of fifty three years, three sons and one daughter-in-law; Dale and Sally of Minnesota Lake, MN, Delwin of Garden City, MN and Dwight of Kawkawlin, seven grandchildren; Tiffany, Brianna, Thomas, Jenna, Sara, Jessica and Ryan, one great grandson, Ian. He is also survived by three sisters; Ruby MacDonald of Sault Ste Marie, MI and Maxine Fenner of Coldwater, MI and June (Reino) Upenon of Rudyard, MI and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and four brothers; Clifford, Vern, Dale and Jerry. Funeral Services will take place Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc.. Officiating will be Jerome Frandle, Bill Denk and Jenny Connelly under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council with private interment in Cottle Cemetery in Pickford, MI. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorial cards for Heartland Hospice will be available at the funeral home.
