Fred J. Gauthier

Gauthier, Fred J. Bay City, Michigan Mr. Gauthier passed away Sunday July 31, 2011 surrounded by his family. Age 102 years. The son of the late Tellisford and Valerie (Potvin) Gauthier was born November 7, 1908 in Black River, Michigan. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Mr. Gauthier retired from Consolidated Construction and was a member of Carpenters Local #706 in Saginaw. He enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, going up north to the cabin, gardening and was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan. He was a kind and gentle man with a sharp memory. He is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law; Lawrence R. and Maxine Gauthier of Linwood and Lester J. and Karen Gauthier of Bay City, one daughter; Shirley Thorpe of Linwood, ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren, one sister; Elvena Lapinski, one brother; Joseph Gauthier, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Irene Florence (LaPan) Gauthier whom he married December 27, 1930 in Visitation Catholic Church, five sisters, three brothers, one son-in-law; Fred Thorpe. The Funeral Liturgy will take place Friday, August 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. Meissner with the Rite of Committal following in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the deceased will take place Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Gauthier will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial cards for St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church will be available at the funeral home.
