Freda M. Hompstead

Mrs. Hompstead passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 97 years. The daughter of the late Michael "Politowski" and Blanche (MacNeill) Rice was born February 10, 1920 in Haynes Township, Michigan. Mrs. Hompstead was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, she was a member of Kawkawlin Community Church and enjoyed cooking, going up north to the family farm, all types of sports and crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Hompstead is survived by her seven children, Carl (Coni) Hompstead, Diann (Larry) Beaty, Ruth Buck, Patricia (John) DeWyse, Carla (Thomas) Priem, George (Elizabeth) Hompstead and David (Paula) Hompstead; 18 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; two brothers, Frank (Carol) Rice, Richard (Marie) Rice; one sister, Anna Kelly; one special nephew, Robert (Lila) Hompstead; one sister-in-law, Cherie Rice and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray P. Hompstead; one son, Gary Hompstead; two brothers, William and Jack Rice and one sister, Doris Haydon.
At the request of Mrs. Hompstead cremation has taken place. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the wishes of the family.
