Mrs. Snable passed away early Friday morning February 12, 2010 at the Carriage House, age 89. The daughter of the late Jacob & Mary (Frick) Herman, she was born August 9, 1920 in Reese. On November 12, 1938 she married Joseph Snable and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2002. Frieda was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Frieda spent her younger years making afghans for all her children and grandchildren and baking cookies, cheese cake and banana cakes for all of their sweet teeth. Frieda and Joe enjoyed many years of perch fishing on Drummond Island.Mrs. Snable is survived by her children, Sandy (Casimer) Musial, Carolyn (Kenneth) Smith, Linda (Richard) Stevens and Douglas (Janet) Snable all of Bay City; grandchildren, Rhonda (Norm) Quintel of Breckenridge, Jody Meylan of Bay City, Cathy (Dave Marsh) Musial of Saratoga Springs, NY, Kelly (Dale) Johnson and Brian (Nicole) Smith both of Bay City, Michael (Angela) Musial of Clayton, NY and Alexandra Snable of Bay City; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Bartreau of Bay City; four sisters-in-law, Nellie Soulsby of Bay City, Elizabeth (Donald) Bell of Farwell, Irene Snable of Harbor Springs and Doris Snable of Ocala, FL; and many nieces & nephews. Frieda was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brett Snable; a sister, Ella Spychalski; two brothers, Jacob (Helen) Herman and Godfrey (Bernice) Herman; her mother and father-in-law, Joseph & Mary Snable; three sisters-in-law, Marie Urbano, Mary Burton and Virginia Snable; and four brothers-in-law, Frank Snable, Stanley Snable, Rudy Snable Sr. and Carl (Sandy) Snable.Frieda's family would like to thank the entire Carriage House staff for the dedicated, loving care and support they gave her and the family during their mothers stay with them.The funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday February 16, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel C. Meckes. Private entombment will be in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Monday from 3:00 to 8:00pm. Mrs. Snable will lie in-state at the church on Tuesday from 10:00am until time of service.
