G. Richard "Rick' Geer

Rick passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 65 years. The son of the late Wilbert and Jeanette (Schmitz) Geer was born July 28, 1948 in Flint, MI. He was a member of Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church. Rick married his wife the former Mary Ann White in Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church on April 15, 1967, just a few weeks short of celebrating their 47th wedding anniversary. He was proud to be a retired Iron Worker from Local # 25 in Detroit, MI and he retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of Moose Lodge #169, "The Plywood Deer Camp" of Drummond Island, a longtime member of White Birch Hills Golf Course and Green Hills Golf Course and member of the N.R.A. He will be forever missed by his wife; Mary Ann, his children and granddaughters; Susan and Dave Reitzel, their daughters; Shelby and Emily, Patty and Mike Finn and their daughters; Allie and Lauren Claire, Rick's brothers and sisters-in-law; Gary and Suzanne of Tawas City, MI, Bill and Mary of Gurnee, Illinois, his in-laws; Carol La Londe, Judy and Bob Streu, Sharyn and Ron Valliere, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother; James, his mother-in-law and father-in-law; Hattie and Clair White and his brother-in-law; Virgil La Londe. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Stephen J. Fillion. A Private Rite of Committal will take place at Calvary Mausoleum in Kawkawlin, MI. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday to receive family and friends from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Rick will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
