Gail Lynn (Spychalski) Haiderer, age 60, was called home on January 30, 2022. Gail was born May 1, 1961 and grew up in Bay City, MI with her parents Donald and Evelyn Spychalski. She graduated from Delta College with an associate degree. She married Dr. Donald Haiderer on May 11, 1990, and had two daughters, Dr. Elizabeth Haiderer Wolverton and Rachel (Haiderer) Strauss. Gail loved caring for books while working at Sage Library. She worked as an administrative assistant at GM and as a legal secretary. She was an amazing and efficient church secretary for many years at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Zion Lutheran Church in Bay City, and Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Essexville. She was incredibly intelligent, an avid reader, and a trivia genius. She enjoyed watching football every weekend, crocheting, gardening, and cribbage. She loved deeply and was kind to everyone.
Gail is survived by her husband Don and their two daughters and their spouses, Dr. Elizabeth (Adam) Haiderer Wolverton (Haslett) and Rachel (Andrew) Strauss (Bay City); her sister, Lisa Beyer (Burton); and her father, Donald J. Spychalski (Bay City) as well as her rescue dog, Cinnamon. Other close relatives include her cousins Bethany Rusch (Saginaw), Tom Rusch (Casa Grande, AZ), and Gary Spychalski (Bay City); and Goddaughters Holly Uhl (Bad Axe) and Katie Rusch (Saginaw). Gail was predeceased by her mother, Evelyn Spychalski, and her aunt, Esther Rusch.
Gail's family extends a heartfelt thank you to her nurses at McLaren Bay Region, Cardinal Hospice, especially Carol, and the staff of Brian's House for their compassion and dedication.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Erv Hutter and Pastor Paul Kruse. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A celebration of life will take place on her birthday, May 1. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make a memorial contribution to Bay County Animal Control, the Gary Sinise Foundation, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
