Lewis, Gale W. of Bay City, Michigan passed away Monday, March 5, 2012 at his home with his wife at his side. Age 86 years. The son of the late Frank and Maude (Brockway) Lewis was born April 23, 1925 in Whitemore Lake, MI and resided in Port Hope, MI. In 1944 he joined the United States Army and served until 1945 and returned to Bay City in 1946. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for fifty years and where he served as an usher. Mr. Lewis worked in the automobile industry all of his life starting his career at Jim Coles Garage and worked for five years at Harry Richard Chevrolet and nineteen years at Draper Chevrolet both in Bay City and retired in 1979 from Wiltse Chevrolet in Standish after five years of service. Gale enjoyed his years as a Boy Scout Leader, coaching baseball at North West Little League for many years. He was an active bowler on the Weiss Fruit Market Team and was an avid golfer at Maple Leaf Golf Course. On June 24, 1950 Mr. Lewis married the former Marilyn W. Williams in Westminster Presbyterian Church and she survives his passing along with three children; Priscilla (Craig) Cramer of Bay City, Mark Lewis of Houghton Lake and David Lewis of Bay City. five grandchildren; Ryan (Melissa) Schmidt, Jennifer Schmidt, Meghan Cramer, Jayce Lewis and Travis Lewis, two great grandchildren; Izaiah and Maddox Schmidt; one sister; Naomi Richardson of Hudsonville, MI and many nieces, nephews and three cousins in CA. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister; Edith Reinke. The Family would like to thank Home Hospice Advantage, Diane and Dr. Jeffrey Potts , his caregivers, Debbie, Lynn and Jenny for the kind and compassionate care they extended to Mr. Lewis during the time they cared for him. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Saturday March 10, 2012 at 12:00 O'Clock Noon at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be Rev. Matthew Schramm with private interment in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will take place Saturday from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services at the church on Saturday. Memorial cards for Westminster Presbyterian Church or the Wishes of the Family will be available.
