Gary A. Peil, 80 was called home to eternal rest on Saturday, January 16, 2016, after battling lung disease. He was surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born the son of the late Godfrey and Lila Peil on April 3, 1935 in Bay City, MI. Gary was a member of St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church, Kawkawlin. His strong faith and knowledge of the Lord was passed on to his family. He was a Journeyman Tool and Die Cutter at G.M. Powertrain Bay City-Plant for 36 years and was a member of U.A.W. Local #362. Gary spent his retirement days on the golf course with his family and friends. He was a #1 man still making birdies and shooting par golf at White Birch Golf Course. Gary enjoyed happy hour at his shed after golfing. Gary and Phyllis wintered in Punta Gorda, Florida where he enjoyed many activities and fellowship with his numerous friends. He always will be remembered for his wonderful stories, hand stands on the back of a chair and taking time with each generation of his family. His love of crow candy was shared all the way down to his great grandchildren. On October 9, 1954 he married Phyllis M. Weber and together they have three children and their spouses; Gail and Doug Anderson, Kent and Karen Peil, Blair and Gay Peil, seven grandchildren and their spouses; Ryan and Darcia Anderson, Seth and Dayna Anderson, Mallory and Matt Buryznski, Addison Peil, Cory Peil, Katy and William Hernandez and Kelsey Peil, four great grandchildren; Hudson and Sawyer Anderson, Harper and Vivian Anderson, two brothers and one sister-in-law, two sisters and two brothers-in-law; Carl Peil, Janet and Glen King, Elaine and Gary Voss, Tim and Pat Peil, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Ken and Marlene Weber, Margaret and Ken Reeves, Larry and Karen Weber, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Gary was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law; Carl and Dorothy Weber, one grandson; Karstin Peil, his sister and brother-in-law; Nancy and Jack Wetters, his brothers and sisters-in-law; Ron and Norma Peil, Jim and Karen Peil and Marge Peil, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Duwane and Sandy Weber. Funeral Services will take place Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Seafert with private interment in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday to receive family and friends from 12:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Gary will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
