Gary Michael Stanley, 61, of Pinconning, Michigan passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 24, 2015 at his home. He was born August 16, 1953 in Standish, Michigan to Shirley Stanley and Edna (Daniels) Stanley, both deceased. He is survived by his daughter, Lesley Ley Stanley, 33, of Pinconning, his girlfriend of 27 years, Michelle Sylvester, and her son, Christopher Guntermann. He is also survived by his four brothers, Richard (Diana) Stanley, of AuGres, Michigan, Leonard (Judy) Stanley, of New Hampshire, Larry (Janis) Stanley of New Mexico, Louis (Michele) Stanley, of West Virginia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gary is a 1971 graduate of Standish-Sterling Central High School, and a 1977 graduate of Central Michigan University. He retired from his position as the Director of the Transportation Planning program for Bay County in 2003, and was an adjunct lifelong wellness instructor at Delta College, where in 2014 he received the Lynn Heatley Award for Distinguished Service. He was also a personal trainer and taught fitness classes at Old Town Gym in Bay City. Gary was a devoted father, friend, brother, uncle, and mentor who enjoyed working out, vacationing in Walt Disney World, and watching and attending Detroit Tiger baseball games. He was inducted into the Northeastern Michigan Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012. As per the request of Gary cremation has taken place and there will be no services or visitation at the Gephart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
