GEORGE D. ANTHONY SR.
"Well done good and faithful servant"
On April 26, 2020 the LORD called home an extraordinary man. He was an amazingly wonderful husband to his high school sweetheart, love of his life Marie (Niedzwiecki) Anthony. They were united in marriage October 3, 1970. He was Daddy to his precious daughters Christine (Jack) Kaiser, and Patricia (Wayne) Walton. A loving mentor to his two sons George (Dina) Anthony, and Jonathan Anthony. He was a very proud and loving Papa to his fifteen grandchildren, Lianndra (Ken) Mollitor; Shane, Naomi, Ruth, and Samuel Kaiser; George III, Emily, Madeline, Amber, Nathan and Ryan Anthony; Austin, Grace and Joshua Anthony; and Skyler Walton, and three great grandchildren, Peyton, Isaac, and Lucy Mollitor. He is survived by his mother Theresa Anthony, brother David (Jean), sister Lisa, along with brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
George devoted his life to his family and to his faith. He loved his country and proudly served in the United States Military for twelve years. He loved football and received many awards, including a football scholarship to Miami, but chose to proudly serve his country. His love for the sport led him into coaching at the junior and high school level. His two sons were honored to have him as a coach. He is admired to this day and is respectfully still called "coach" by many.
He was an electrician for General Motors, and retired after 30 years in 2009. He taught advanced math for three years in the Windmill Technology Program at Delta College. He enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his family, traveling with his bride, and spoiling her and his grandchildren. He also loved to share a hearty piece of Spatz bread with his loyal cocker spaniel Charlie. He was predeceased by his father Virgil and younger brother Virgil, whom he loved and missed both dearly.
It's almost an impossible task to separate a good man from their family, that bond is something mysteriously awesome and it can only be made from heaven. His Legacy will truly live on forever.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic private services will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the Gephart Funeral home, Inc. with private interment following in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to the wishes of the family.
