George passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Sheffield Bay at the age of 95. He was born December 27, 1927 to the late Neil and Caroline (Pappin) Bennett in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. George proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. After serving his country, George, attended Michigan State University where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree. George owned and operated his own hearing aid business called Maico and was retired from the United States Postal Service as a supervisor at the main branch in Saginaw after 25 years of service. George spent many hours volunteering and assisting our Nations Veteran’s at the Saginaw VA Medical Center. He was an avid reader, he enjoyed sailing, watching his beloved Spartans on TV, learning about history and spending time with his family.
George is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marlene Bennett; daughter, Amy Gronoski; son, Troy (Wanda) Gronowski; eight grandchildren, Melissa (Jason) Ruple, Chelsey Reichart, Kathryn (Brandon) Jarzabkowski, Marjorie (Tyler) Beauchamp Aubree (Brandon) Brooks, Troy Cornell, Cole Gronowski, and Sam Cornell and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his son, Scott E. Bennett; daughter, Stacy Gronowski; brother, Adam (Nancy) Bennett and son-in-law, Patrick Salois.
At the request of George, cremation has taken place and private services will take place at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center.
