George E. Dengler

Mr. George E. Dengler, of Kawkawlin, passed away early Saturday morning, July 9, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region following a lengthy illness, age 82. The son of the late Englebert and Hulda (Friebe) Dengler, he was born on October 24, 1933 in Kawkawlin. George was raised on the family farm in Kawkawlin and farming has remained a passion of his throughout his life. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. George retired from Aetna Cement Plant after 40 years of employment. He was proud to be a volunteer fireman with the Kawkawlin Twp. Fire Department for 15 years. George was an active member of Beaver Zion Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder and ran the food pantry for 15 years.
On April 1, 1967 George married the former Nancy J. Batzlaff and she survives his passing along with his four children, Lawrence (Sherry) Dengler, Laura (Eric) Blumberg, John (Kathy) Dengler and James (Jodi) Dengler; nine grandchildren, Kyle, Craig, Michael, Timothy, Joshua, Jason, Thomas, Kimberly and Dakota and their spouses; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Lou Dengler and her husband William Forbes; a sister-in-law, Linda (Don) Hoffman; a brother-in-law, Gary (Hazel) Batzlaff; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, George was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Rev. Donald Dengler and Keith Dengler.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Beaver Zion Lutheran Church in Auburn. Officiating will be Rev. Seth R. Hemme. Private interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
