George Peter Ouillette

George Peter Ouillette, aged 79 years, of Kawkawlin Michigan passed peacefully into eternal life Wednesday morning October 29, 2014 at his residence, with his loving family at his side. The son of the late Wilfred and Agnes (Gouin) Ouillette was born November 30, 1934 in Flint Michigan and had resided in Bay City most of his life. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Peace Parish-St. Mary's Church, formerly served on the Parish Council, and was a member of the Usher's Club. George was a 1952 graduate and Class President of St. Mary's Catholic High School and kept in close contact with his classmates. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He later worked for Michigan Bell and retired from Ameritech. George was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed and respected nature. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #414 Fourth Degree, Telephone Pioneers and the Crump Fox Club. On June 22, 1957, George married his bride of fifty seven years, the former Mary Hager at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gladwin. She survives him, along with two daughters and sons-in-law: Janine and Kent Hartley of Carson City, NV, and Mickey and Ted Palomaki of Park City Utah; three sons and daughters-in-law: Peter and Amy of Auburn, MI, Paul and Lesli of Noblesville, IN, and Andrew and Frederique of Woodbury, CT. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: John (Bonnie), Robert (Gemma), and Michael Hartley; Ross, Kya, and Lisa Palomaki; Erika, Peter, and Thomas Ouillette; Ashley (Kooper) Martinez; Ana, Allison, and Audrey Ouillette. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews and nieces. Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by one son, Anthony C. Ouillette. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Peace Parish-St. Mary's Church, 607 E. South Union St. Bay City MI, followed by Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Bay County Veterans Council. Mr. Ouillette will lie in state at the church from 10:00 am until the time of services. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Patrick M. Jankowiak with a Private Rite of Committal in Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home Sunday November 2, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. The Vigil for the Deceased will begin at 7:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home, followed by the Bible/Chalice Presentation by members of the Knights of Columbus #414.
