George H. Patterson

George passed away late Sunday evening, September 24, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 88 years. The son of the late Pendil and Marie Patterson was born March 30, 1929 in Bay City, Michigan. George was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He retired from Hirschfeild Steel as a manager. George was a member of the Bay City Elks Lodge #88 and the Saginaw Bay Yacht Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, spending time with his afternoon group and was an avid University of Michigan football fan. He proudly served his county in the U. S. Army. Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years whom he married July 9, 1955 the former, Joanne C. Leinberger; two children, Bruce (Dru) Patterson; Jennifer (Scott) Henson; his grandchildren, Emily and Rebecca Patterson, many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Eola Leinberger. At the request of George cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. LeRoy Westphal. Private inurnment will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. The family will be present at the funeral home on Thursday to receive family and friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services.
