Georgiana Kathrine Field "Georgie"

Georgiana (Georgie) Kathrine Field passed away with her family by her side on December 19, 2023 at the age of 88. Georgie was born on December 11, 1935, in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Bertha (Glaza) and George H. Schmidt. She worked at People’s National Bank and Visitation Catholic Church but her main priority in life was raising her family. She was a faithful member of the catholic church, attending Our Lady of Peace Parish (St. Mary’s) for the past 20 plus years.
Robert (her husband) and Georgie met at her neighbor’s house in the spring of 1952, and it was love at first sight. They got married in 1957 in the church and have spent the last 66 years raising their family and traveling the world including all 50 states, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
Georgie enjoyed swimming at Delta College for over 20 years, baking sweets for everyone including all of her grandkid’s birthday cakes, camping, and traveling.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years Robert Field, brother Terry Schmidt, son Bob (Nancy) Field, and their children Breina & Josh Pugh, Sarah & Nick Collins (Josie), Brandon & Kelsey Field (Harper), son Chris (Amy) and their children Jaxon and MacKenzie and her son-in-law Scott Wheelock and his children Megan Wheelock (fiancé David) and Ryan Wheelock and her special friends, Karen & Denny Jozwiak and Donna Armstrong.
She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter Barbara Wheelock, her mom Bertha and Dad George Schmidt, her brother Richard Schmidt, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marshall A. and Minnie C. Field.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nursing staff at McLaren Bay Region.
Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Parish (St. Mary’s). Officiating will be Rev. Fr. John Sarge. The family will be present to receive visitors at the Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Our Lady of Peace Parish or St. Jude Shrine.
