Hegenauer, Gerald P. "Jerry" Bay City, Michigan Our beloved husband, father and papa went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning July 31, 2013 at St. Mary's of Michigan surrounded by his loving family. Age 82 years. He was born February 14, 1931 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Mr. Hegenauer was an active and devoted member of the First Assembly of God in Saginaw where he served as the head usher. Jerry enjoyed helping with the church dinners, was involved with the Clothed with Love Ministry, the Thanksgiving Basket Program, and participated in many mission trips around the world. Jerry retired from GM Powertrain after forty three years of service. Most of all he had a great love for his family, especially spending time with his five loving grandchildren and attending all their sporting events and activities. On April 25, 1953 he married his devoted wife of sixty years the former Joan L. VanHamlin and she survives his passing along with three loving children and their spouses; Paula and David Delongchamp, Kevin and Laura Hegenauer and Craig and Deanna Hegenauer, five cherished grandchildren; Jessica, Taylor, Alyssa, Jared and Kaylee, one brother and four sisters-in-law; John and Joyce Hegenauer, Charlotte Alba, Donna VanHamlin and Roberta Hegenauer all of Bay City and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Carl and Gladys (Klankey) Hegenauer, three brothers and two sisters-in-law; Richard and Sue, Ronald and Nancy and Donald Hegenauer and two brothers-in-law; Richard VanHamlin and Dan Alba. Funeral Services will take place Monday August 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Assembly of God 4570 Mackinaw Road Saginaw, MI 48603. Officiating will be Randal J. Smolchuck with the Committal Service and interment at 2:45 p.m.in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bay City, MI. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Hegenauer will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for the "Wishes of the Family" will be available.
