Geraldine "Geri" Joan (Laleman) Clayton of Bay City, MI and formerly of Hale, MI went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 22nd, 2023 at the age of 90.
Geri was born to the late Desire Laleman Jr. and Susie Pavlik Laleman Tobin on March 8, 1932. She grew up helping her mother with the household, and was a wonderful daughter and lifelong friend to her mother. She met her future husband while working at a movie theater, he would drive by and honk and wave to her. She married the love of her life, William Robert "Bob" Clayton on December 10, 1951 and together they raised 3 children. Early in her marriage she worked at Prestolite Factory in Bay City, but being the devoted wife and mother she was, she stopped working to stay at home and care for them full-time.
She was a strong independent lady, and remained living in her own home until she suffered a stroke just 8 days before her passing. She loved working in her yard, mowing grass and never wanted to ask anyone for help even if she needed it. She'd always say "I can do it, I'm ok" but appreciated anything you did for her. She was a sweet and spiritual woman, a selflessly kind and loving mother, grandmother and Nana, with a contagious smile!
She is survived and will be forever missed by her children, Beverly (Stephen) Mason, Cynthia Sheahan and William (Rebecca) Clayton, four grandchildren; Rebecca (Sam) Cole, Douglas (Kirsten) Mason, Ashley (Brad) Smith and Heather (Seth) O'Brien, along with nine great-grandchildren; Olivia, Thaylon, Eli, Brayden, Colin, Cash, Andrea, Juliette and Hudson, in addition to her loving fur-baby, Roxie.
In addition to her parents, Geri was welcomed home to heaven by her beloved husband, Bob, of 57 years, William Robert "Bob" Clayton, her brothers; Elmer Laleman, Milton Laleman, and Richard Tobin, her son-in-law, Kevin Sheahan.
At Geri's request, a Celebration of Life will be held for her family at a later date. Memorial Contributions in Geri's memory can be made to Toni & Trish Hospice House, 4699 11 Mile Rd., Auburn, MI 48611, for their wonderful care of her in her final days.
