Geraldine "Geri" Mary Westover

Geraldine Mary Westover (Sprywa)"Geri"Bay City, Michigan Mrs. Westover passed away Sunday January 22, 2017 at her residence. Age 80 years. The daughter of the late Edward and Francis Sprywa was born February 12, 1936 in Bay City and has resided here all of her life. She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, graduated from St. Stanislaus High School and Madonna University. She began teaching at John Glenn High School in 1957, retiring in 1988 but continued to teach part time at Delta College. She loved her dog, Candy, and understood many languages which helped her as she traveled the world. She pursued her passion for quilting throughout her life along with collecting and selling antiques. She is survived by six nieces; Julie (Matt) Feinauer, Mary (Bill) Oberloier, Judy (John) Tomke, Dr.'s Mary (Tom) Neumann, Nancy (Walid) Ramlawi, Peggy (Paul) Nordman, her great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; Donald M. Westover in 2010, one brother and sister-in-law; Ray and Jeanette (Karr) Sprywa. The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will be celebrated Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish-St. Hedwig Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. Kelm with private interment St. Stanislaus Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Westover will be taken to the church on Friday day to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of the Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to Corpus Christi Parish.
