Gilbert A. Behmlander

Gilbert A. Behmlander Bay City, Michigan Mr. Behmlander passed away Thursday evening July 23, 2015 with his family at his side. Age 85 years. The son of the late Albert and Christina (Schwab) Behmlander was born September 4, 1929 in Bay City, Michigan. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust and worked on maintaining the church grounds for many years. Gilbert retired from Valley Welding Company as a welder and was a former volunteer on the Monitor Township Fire Department. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed tinkering in his garage, was a Detroit Tigers and Lions fan and most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family. Left behind to cherish his memories are two daughters and one son-in-law; Jeannie and Mitchel Doyle of Bay City and Debra Behmlander of Cleveland, OH, one son and daughter-in-law; Thomas and Debra Behmlander-Curpenski of Bay City, three grandchildren; Dan and Michele Johnston, Kristy Curpenski and Joshua Curpenski, two sisters-in-law; Ruth Behmlander and Luetta Behmlander both of Bay City and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters-in-law; Elmer and Kate, Howard, Roland and Norbert and Lucille Behmlander and one sister and brother-in-law; Alvera and Rod Wilcox. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Rev. Paul D. Theiss. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Behmlander will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial cards for St. Paul Cemetery Fund or the American Lung Association will be available at the funeral home.
