Gloria E. Burdis

Gloria passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 93 years. She was born on February 22, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to the late August and Cecelia (Schwartz) Mattson. She married Robert Burdis on April 15, 1950 who passed away on July 12, 2013 after 63 years of marriage. Her granddaughters described her as lovely and feisty. We will miss her good examples, advice, and the Saturday night card games. Gloria loved camping, traveling around the country, sewing dresses for the girls and their dolls, attending all of the little league games, and big Sunday dinners with aunts, uncles, and cousins and lots of card playing. She also loved watching the Detroit Tigers baseball, reading books, working all the crossword puzzles in the paper and Oh the casino!
Gloria is survived by her children, Judy (Tom) Reif, Karen (Wilson) Samborn, Terry (Julie) Burdis, Tim (Kym) Burdis and Rob (Teresa) Burdis; grandchildren, Erin (Meg) Burdis, Nick (Kavita) Reif, Meghan (Nabil) Fayad, Autumn Samborn, Sage (Jenni) Samborn, Sawyer (Stephanie) Samborn, Ashley (Reed) Byron, Craig (Krystle) Burdis, Rachel Burdis, Kyle Burdis, Chris (Natalie) Burdis, Katie (Jeremy) DeVries, Landin Burdis and Anna Burdis; 10 great grandchildren, her kid brother, Ed (Carol) Mattson and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Gloria was also preceded in death by her 4 brothers and 1 sister.
At the request of Gloria cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 27, 2020 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home. We are currently still under the governor's executive order of social distancing and limited to 25 visitors in the chapel at one time. You may experience a wait while paying your respects, face coverings must be worn. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial contribution to the wishes of the family.
